Dairy-free

What is dairy-free?

Dairy-free refers to the exclusion of any food or ingredient that comes from an animal's milk, such as cow's milk, goat's milk, or sheep's milk. This means that foods that do not contain any milk or milk-derived products, such as cheese, yogurt, butter, and cream, are considered dairy-free. People who follow a dairy-free diet typically avoid dairy products for a variety of reasons, including lactose intolerance, dairy allergy, ethical or environmental concerns, or as part of a vegan or plant-based diet. Dairy-free alternatives to traditional dairy products are widely available, such as plant-based milk (e.g. almond milk, soy milk), vegan cheese, and non-dairy ice cream.
