Dimethylethanolamine (DMEA) is a colorless liquid organic compound that has a fishy odor. It is also known by other names, such as N,N-dimethylethanolamine, DMAE, and Deanol.

DMEA is used in various industries, including as a catalyst in the production of polyurethanes, as a corrosion inhibitor in boilers, and as a stabilizer for plastics and synthetic resins. It is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and in the manufacture of some personal care products, such as skin creams and lotions, where it is claimed to have anti-aging properties.

DMEA is considered to be moderately toxic and can cause skin and eye irritation. It is also harmful if ingested or inhaled in high concentrations. Therefore, it should be handled with care and proper protective equipment should be worn when working with it.
